When my father passed away, I had him laid to rest at a funeral home that advertised affordable prices for family funerals and also requested a funeral estimate. The advertisement said "family funeral from about 400,000 yen," but the person in charge, who claimed to be a planner, told me "we can't do this plan for your house," and then added more options. The price list was in the hand of the person in charge, and we could not see it clearly. When we were surprised that the total cost was almost 3 million yen, the planner recommended a set plan of 2.5 million yen for a family funeral, and we had no choice but to sign the contract.
