Beware of investment and money-making schemes spreading to students

A friend invited me to meet him at a coffee shop, saying, "There is someone I want you to meet. The man who attended the meeting explained about investment and recommended the purchase of a USB memory stick containing the learning materials. The cost was approximately 600,000 yen, and before I could answer whether or not I would purchase it, he suggested that I borrow money from a consumer finance company to pay for it. Unable to refuse the offer, I completed the borrowing procedure on the web and paid the amount on the spot. As you expand your circle of friends in your new life, you may be approached by friends, seniors, or people you meet on social networking sites or in clubs with offers to invest or make money. Some of these solicitations are characterized as multilevel marketing （ or chain sales transactions ） in which you are rewarded if you solicit someone.
When you say you have no money, you may be told to borrow money to pay for the loan from a consumer finance company. Never sign up for a loan.
Friends ・ Soliciting acquaintances can break up relationships and cause financial problems. Refuse clearly, even in situations where it is difficult to say no.
If you meet the requirements, you may be able to cool ・ off or cancel the contract before it is over. If you are in trouble, please contact the consumer affairs center of your local government （ Consumer Hotline 188 ）.
